Open Doors. Change Lives.
At Open Door HousingWorks, we believe housing is more than just a basic need – it’s the foundation for dignity, health, and opportunity. Having a safe place to call home transforms everything. It provides stability, security, and a launching pad for rebuilding a life.
Every day, hundreds of individuals and families in our community face the harsh realities of homelessness. Without stable housing, it’s difficult to find and keep a job, access healthcare, or nurture relationships. That’s why we’re committed to providing more than just shelter. We offer comprehensive supportive services tailored to each person’s unique journey, from emergency housing to permanent homes, from counseling and job training to life skills and ongoing support.
Your generosity fuels this vital work. Because of donors like you, a mother fleeing domestic violence can find safety and begin healing. A young man battling addiction can access treatment and job readiness programs. A family experiencing chronic homelessness can finally open the door to a stable home and a hopeful future.
Your donation helps us:
- Provide emergency and permanent supportive housing, ensuring no one sleeps outside or in unsafe conditions.
- Offer job training, counseling, and life skills coaching that empower residents to regain independence.
- Build a community where people are treated with respect, dignity, and compassion, helping them not just survive, but thrive.
Give Today. Change Tomorrow.
The path out of homelessness is difficult, but it becomes possible with your support. Every dollar you give helps open a door to stability and transforms lives in meaningful ways.
Join us in creating a future where everyone has a place to call home – a future where hope is real and lasting.
Please Note:
We update our donation needs regularly as our programs grow and participants’ needs evolve.

Our Wish List
Access Center – Food Boxes & Essential Donations Needed
Our Access Center works daily to support individuals and families facing hunger and hardship. Food boxes are a critical part of that support, but we often face shortages that prevent us from meeting the growing need.
We rely on your generosity to help us provide complete food boxes for families in need, along with the tools to prepare healthy meals for breakfast and lunch at our Access Center. Items we urgently need include:
- Canned meats and vegetables
- Soups and stews
- Bread and grain products (pasta, rice, cereal)
- Shelf-stable dairy items (boxed or canned cheese)
- Kitchen tools– including knives, cutting boards, can openers, pots, and pans
Every contribution helps a family put food on the table and gain a greater sense of stability. Thank you for standing with us to nourish and empower our community.
Urgent Needs for Our Shelter and Outreach Departments
We are always in need of essential supplies to help those experiencing homelessness stay safe, warm, and protected, especially in extreme weather conditions. In addition to food, Outreach and shelter supplies, access to transportation can be life changing.
Current high-need items include:
- Tents – Emergency shelter for unsheltered individuals
- Sleeping Bags – Portable warmth and protection
- Blankets – Twin and Full sizes preferred
- Warm Socks – One of the most requested items in our day shelter
- TriMet Bus Tickets – Transportation is vital for attending job interviews, appointments, and essential services. Please note: Bus tickets do not expire, while passes do.
Your donations help people take the next step toward stability and independence. Thank you for making a real impact.
Help Us Cover Postage Costs
At Open Door HousingWorks, we assist clients across the nation—often by mail. From vital documents to support materials, postage is a recurring but essential cost that adds up quickly.
Your donation toward postage helps us reduce operational expenses and redirect more resources to housing, food, and direct client services. Even small contributions make a big impact.
Thank you for helping us stay connected and effective—nationwide.
Small and Large Donations Welcome
At Open Door HousingWorks, we deeply value the generosity of our community. Your financial support, whether big or small, plays a vital role in helping us serve those in need.
You may choose to designate your donation for a specific purpose or allow us to direct it where it’s most needed. Either way, your contribution makes a meaningful difference.
Here are just a few of the ways your donation can help:
- Shelter Support: Provide meals during the holidays (like Thanksgiving and Christmas), clothing, fresh linens, food, and essential hygiene supplies.
- Identification Assistance: Help cover the cost of IDs and birth certificates, removing critical barriers to stable housing.
- Facility Improvements: Support renovations at our Access Center, including the replacement of our aging sign and other needed upgrades.

A Permanent Home for Healing, Hope, and Human Dignity
At Open Door HousingWorks, we believe that housing is just the beginning. True transformation happens when people are met with support, stability, and the resources to rebuild. That’s why we’re launching our most ambitious project yet: The Open Door Access Center – a permanent, trauma-informed campus in Cornelius, Oregon dedicated to serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
We need your support to make it a reality.
Why the Access Center Matters
Currently, we operate the Cornelius Safe Rest Village, a critical transitional site for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. As that program concludes, we are preparing to break ground on a new, innovative facility that will expand our reach and deepen our impact for years to come.
This isn’t just a building – it’s a community hub that will bring essential services together under one roof. The Access Center will be the heart of our operations, home to:
- Case Management & Workforce Development Services
- Shelter & Outreach Program Staff
- Home Ownership Programs
- Health & Behavioral Health Partnerships
- Drop-In Support for Participants & Families
- Peer Support & Quiet Healing Spaces
- Pet-Friendly Outdoor Area
- A Dedicated Kitchen for Meal Prep & Food Box Distribution
Designed with trauma-informed care in mind, every room, color, and layout will reflect Open Door’s commitment to respect, compassion, and healing.
How You Can Help
This project is a long-term investment in people, and we can’t do it without your partnership. Your donation will help us:
- Break ground and begin construction
- Outfit training rooms and supportive service spaces
- Build out our trauma-informed design features
- Create a safe, welcoming place for everyone who walks through our doors
- Every Dollar Opens A Door
- Your contribution is 100% tax-deductible and will go directly toward creating this essential space for healing and hope.
