Open Door HousingWorks operates two emergency shelter programs in Beaverton and Cornelius, each designed with a trauma-informed approach to support individuals experiencing homelessness. We offer two types of shelter programs: congregate shelters and alternative shelters, each tailored to meet the diverse needs of our guests.
Our Shelter Programs
Congregate Shelters
These provide emergency shelter with shared living and sleeping accommodations, fostering a sense of community while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for individuals to regroup and heal.
Alternative Shelters
Options such as safe rest pods and pallet homes offer more private, dignified spaces, allowing guests to maintain a greater sense of personal security.
Together, our shelters provide approximately 160 beds each night, contributing to a network of 430 emergency shelter beds available throughout Washington County.
Beaverton Homeless Shelter
The Beaverton Homeless Shelter is a vital resource for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Beaverton area. This shelter provides a safe and supportive environment where residents can access essential services aimed at helping them transition to stable housing. By offering temporary accommodation, meals, and access to hygiene facilities, the shelter ensures that basic needs are met. The shelter provides case management services, where trained professionals work with residents to develop personalized plans for achieving housing stability. These plans often include referrals to job training programs, mental health services, and other community resources. The Beaverton Homeless Shelter is committed to fostering a sense of community and empowerment among its residents, helping them regain independence and stability.
Cornelius Safe Rest Village
Cornelius Safe Rest Village offers a unique and innovative solution to temporary housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. These pods provide a secure and private space for residents, allowing them to have a sense of dignity and autonomy while they work towards permanent housing solutions. Pods are equipped with basic amenities, including a bed, storage space, and access to shared facilities such as restrooms and kitchens. The Safe House Pods are part of a larger community effort to address homelessness, providing not only shelter but also access to supportive services. Residents can connect with case managers and other service providers to receive assistance with job training, mental health support, and housing placement. The Cornelius Safe Rest Village is a testament to the community’s commitment to innovative and compassionate solutions for homelessness.
